Capacity ladders · ringed point = most flexible setting
The frontier: removal against retention.
Each method was swept along its own capacity ladder — penalty, components, depth, width, bottleneck — from no correction to clearly over-flexible. A good corrector reaches the top-right corner: all contamination removed, all clean signal kept. The oracle sits there; nothing realisable should.
Frontier explorer
Simulation canonical world (medium SNR, linear contamination). The ladders were swept at three values of ρ; the SNR and contamination-type dimensions are compared on the benchmark page rather than re-swept here.
How to read it
With clean transfer on the y-axis, a vertical drop is erasure the method chose; the linear family runs along
the top because it only removes what the templates span. Switch to total transfer and every curve is capped by
the degeneracy line 1 − ρ² — the part of the loss no template-based method can avoid.
